Silent Flight and Electric models can be flown at any time.

In furtherance of club interests two or more committee members are empowered to ground any aircraft deemed to be in contravention of any club rule.

Location of Pits Area

In general the pits shall be set up parallel to the wind direction and adjacent to the boundary of the flying area. Only Active pilots and their assistant are to be forward of the pits area when flying is taking place.

Committee officials have the right to designate car parking areas as dictated by changes in the conditions.

Slope soaring for gliders is allowed to take place at the same time as power flying at the field.

Frequency Pennants

All 35MHz transmitters shall bear a correctly marked frequency pennant.

Frequency Discipline

When more than two pilots are operating on 35MHz they shall co-ordinate between themselves to establish safe frequency operation.

Glider pilots must ensure that fliers operating on the main field are aware of their presence.

Beginners must not switch on without seeking assistance from the more experienced pilots, and if anybody has any doubts they must not switch on until known to be safe to do so.

Silencers

All engines must be silenced to 82 db(A) at 7 meters in any direction, as per BMFA Guidelines.

Running In

Running in of engines is only allowed in the designated area at the field. No engines are to be left running un-attended.

Safety Prohibitions

No model shall be flown over or behind any power pits areas at the club field.

No more than four models shall be in the air at any time, on any one flying location.

The use of 27 MHz radio control equipment shall be prohibited for the use of flying at the club site.

No taxiing is allowed within the pits area.

Club members are not allowed to bring dogs up to the field.

Members shall follow the country code practice in regard to leaving gates in the state they were before the member when through the gate.

Safety Recommendations

It is recommended that pilots should have reached the ‘A’ certificate standard of flying in accordance with the BMFA Radio Control Achievement Scheme before flying solo.

It is strongly recommended that only confident/experienced pilots fly when alone, and even then they must recognise the dangers, e.g. cuts from propellers, possibly being hit by their own model etc.

It is strongly recommended that members who are mowing the field do not do so alone and use the appropriate safety equipment.

Visitors

Visitors and guests are to be made aware of club rules before flying, and must provide proof of current BMFA membership.

Non BMFA members, e.g. potential new members, can fly at club sites on 3 separate occasions, but only using the buddy lead system under the supervision of an instructor.

After 3 visits such potential members must join the Club and the BMFA before any further flying.

Code of Practice

The SMAE/BMFA code of practice outlined in the BMFA Handbook shall be observed at all times.
